Made of coconut husk (coir), a 100 percent organic, renewable and sustainable resource, Kitty’s Crumble contains no chemicals, silica dust or fragrances. It is pet safe and has a soft, earth-like texture that cats instinctually prefer. Kitty’s Crumble is naturally structured of millions of leach resistant micro-sponges that absorb moisture and trap odors, holding more than four times its weight in liquid. Used Kitty’s Crumble (with solids removed) is a valuable resource with the properties of a peat moss; it is an excellent soil conditioner, compost additive, or may be placed in the green waste bin for municipal recycling. Kitty’s Crumble has a small carbon footprint (pawprint) - it involves no cutting down trees, no mining the earth, and no crop production, which are all significant greenhouse gas contributors. REVISED REVIEW:I've been using Kitty's Crumble for about two or three months now and my original opinion has changed significantly since I've gotten used to it. The main thing to remember is, this is not a clumping litter. So my strategy is now to use half a bag (my litter box is rather large with a dome), which results in about four inches of litter depth to it and just change it every Sunday. That's it. The box doesn't smell, my cat doesn't seem to mind, the litter barely tracks and every week I just dump everything out and start anew. The only real downside I see to this is that I'm using half a bag a week, or 26 bags a year, so that adds up in terms of cost. ORIGINAL REVIEW: I normally use "World's Best Cat Litter," and love it (see my reviews for that if you wish), but after I got hit with a sawtoothed grain beetle infestation, I had to throw all the litter out and needed to switch to something new temporarily to make sure all the... Since we got our two cats (one in 2006 and one in 2007) we've been having all sorts of litter box problems and trying all sorts of solutions. We finally stumbled across a giant pan (relatively cheap) here on Amazon - which I have also seen locally at Petsmart - the Kitty's Crumble litter, and the iTouchless 1-gallon trash can. The cats have finally started using the box 100% of the time (as opposed to hanging certain parts over the edge while going). They seem to like the texture of Kitty's Crumble. It tracks less than clumping litters and what does track sweeps up easily with a mini dustpan and brush. Then we put a grocery bag in the iTouchless can (inside the bucket). Solids get scooped into the grocery bag every day, and at the end of the week, the solids bag is taken to the garbage bin (the one the trashmen empty) and the used Crumble goes into the bucket. Then the used Crumble goes out into the garden. Less waste, more clean, happy cats, no mess! |
