It pains me to write this as I'm a big fan of Nature's Miracle products. This box has some great design features -- the slick plastic makes it easy to wipe clean and the lack of corners means the cat is more comfortable using it.However, this product has some seriously fatal flaws. The first is that the latches aren't covered by the drip edge in the cover. This means that if you have a male cat that pees on the wall of the hood in the right area, nearly all the urine runs down into the latch and is directed outside of the box! You can use a garden sprayer to simulated the peeing action and observe this for yourself -- this is what the company should have done in the design stage. With my cat this happens about once a week or so. The other problem is that the box doesn't have any sort of feet or standoffs to keep the bottom off the floor. This means that the bottom of the box and the floor create a sort of capillary interface that sucks in all the urine when it... I bought this because it was on sale at the pet store and I figured the large size would come in handy if I decide to get a second cat. It is made from good quality plastic, not cheap looking. The plastic doesn't seem to hold odor. I like the extra large entrance and that it doesn't have a door (seems pointless). It is large enough that I can scoop it daily without having to take the lid off.The only complaints that I would make are that the snaps to take the lid on and off are very difficult to open, and the charcoal filter is basically pointless. I don't understand how this silly little charcoal thing is supposed to help with odor. Bottom line is that if you have a decent litter and scoop it daily, odor shouldn't be an issue. I use Feline Pine Original Cat Litter, 20-Pound Bag and I love it. I have 2 large (not fat,The breed is large) cats and I use any kind of Pine Pellet cat litter. I have absolutely no problem with "clumping" or "sticking" of litter to this product. The only time i have had that problem was when i used a wheat litter. I knew the different litter was the problem, not the litter box. So all of the negative reviews were probably too lazy to try and find an actual solution instead of complaining. This is the only litter box my cats like to use which is making me by another one because they just ignore the other litter box I have along with the nature's miracle i already own. So in conclusion, if you want a large open litter box for either larger cats or a multi-cat household then this is a goto product. If you have clumping or sticking issues then go the extra mile to find out what litter works best for you, your cats, and the litter box because this is literally the only BIG litter box i have come across that is sturdy, easy to clean and reliable. |
